IT Systems Integration Specialist | Cloud, Security & Infrastructure | Munich, Germany
I am a hands-on IT professional currently completing my formal training as an IT Systems Integration Specialist (Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration) in Munich, Germany. My journey in IT has been shaped by a mix of structured education, real-world client work, and countless hours of self-driven, hands-on experimentation.
Professional Background
My path into IT started with foundational, hands-on experience in hardware support, Windows administration, and firewall/endpoint security (Sophos) during an early practical placement in the social services sector. This gave me a strong appreciation for reliability, documentation, and clear technical communication with non-technical end users.
I am currently working at a Munich-based IT service provider, where I support and maintain IT infrastructure for a broad range of business clients. My day-to-day work includes:
- On-site troubleshooting and hardware maintenance (servers, backup systems, workstations)
- Windows Server administration and Active Directory support
- Network infrastructure maintenance and basic firewall configuration
- Microsoft 365 and Entra ID administration for client tenants
- First- and second-level technical support for enterprise environments
Self-Driven Projects & Homelab
Beyond my daily work, I actively build and maintain my own home lab and cloud infrastructure to deepen my technical understanding beyond what a typical apprenticeship covers. This includes:
- Deploying and hardening Linux-based servers (Ubuntu Server) from scratch
- Configuring Nginx as a reverse proxy with SSL/TLS termination
- Implementing strict firewall policies (UFW) and SSH hardening as part of a Zero Trust approach
- Managing UniFi-based network infrastructure, including VLAN segmentation and access control
- Exploring Microsoft Azure and Entra ID for identity and cloud infrastructure management
- Using AI tools to accelerate research, automate repetitive tasks, and support architecture decisions
I document these projects in the Architecture Lab section of this site, focused on practical, reproducible write-ups rather than theory.
Mindset & Goals
I believe real competence comes from building things yourself, breaking them, and understanding why they broke. I am not interested in surface-level knowledge.
I want to understand systems end-to-end, from the network layer up to identity and cloud architecture.
My goal is to grow into a dedicated Cloud Infrastructure or IT Security role, where I can apply this hands-on mindset at an enterprise scale, working alongside experienced professionals and continuously expanding what I can build and secure.
